WHY SHE MADE OUR LIST:

Considered by many critics to be the greatest living actress, Meryl Streep has been nominated for an Academy Award an astonishing 19 times, and has won it three times. She is an avid activist and has donated millions to schools and children. While on the big screen, she has taught us how to cook, to dance, to work, and manages lift us up with her outstanding acceptance speeches. Not to mention, is a leading advocate of more and better female roles in the film industry.

WHAT MAKES HER BEAUTIFUL:

Her age is merely a number. She has achieved effortless beauty from her years as a teenager, until now. Both her incredible talent and her unconditional heart of gold, make Meryl Streep a true one of a kind beauty.

WHY SHE MADE OUR LIST:

Oprah Gail Winfrey is an actress, philanthropist, publisher and producer. She is well known for the highest rated television program The Oprah Winfrey Show, which aired for 25 seasons, from 1986 to 2011. She has donated millions of dollars to various charities and organizations, with most of her money going to three foundations: The Angel Network, The Oprah Winfrey Foundation, and The Oprah Winfrey Operating Foundation.  She is the richest African American in the 20th century. Life magazine hailed her as the most influential woman of her generation.

WHAT MAKES HER BEAUTIFUL:

Oprah’s upbringing in a poverty-stricken family was not always easy. Despite her childhood, by age 19 she began co-anchoring the local tv news. This was a launching point for the rest of her career. She doesn’t let fame get to her, she lifts others up, and will always be an inspiration to all women around the world.

WHY SHE MADE OUR LIST:

Bobbi Brown took her own direction when creating a natural makeup line when the 80’s era was loud, bold and in your face.

“My vision was to create a cosmetics line that would match and complement women’s complexions,” said Bobbi. She started with lipstick shades that looked like lips. She sold her products by mail order and once Glamour wrote an article about her, orders came flooding in! Bobbi Brown Cosmetics debuted with 10 lipsticks in February 1991 at Bergdorf Goodman.

Today, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics is sold worldwide in many major department stores. The idea to feel comfortable in your own skin is key.

WHAT MAKES HER BEAUTIFUL:

Bobbi Brown has created a cosmetic line, skincare line, delicate fragrances and best selling books. She also started makeup classes at her stores so others could pursue a career in the makeup industry.  

She launched Pretty Powerful in 2013 and supports organizations that seek to empower women through job skills training programs and girls through education. Beneficiaries to date include Dress for Success, the Broome Street Academy High School, and the Girl Rising Fun. With all she has going on, CCO, being a wife, a mother and a writer she still focuses on helping others.

BEAUTY PIONEER: CAROL COLE, 65

WHY SHE MADE OUR LIST:

Diane von Furstenberg is fashion’s ultimate seductress. The eyes. The curls. The accent. The Rolodex. The clothes!

In 1974 she introduced the knitted jersey “wrap dress”, an example of which, due to its influence on women’s fashion, is in the collection of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Her company, Diane von Furstenberg (DVF), is a global luxury lifestyle brand available in over 70 countries and 45 free-standing shops worldwide.

WHAT MAKES HER BEAUTIFUL:

Diane is a director of The Diller – von Furstenberg Family Foundation, which provides support to nonprofit organizations in the area of community building, education, human rights, arts, health and the environment.

The foundation supports the “DVF Awards”, presented annually to four women who display leadership, strength, and courage in their commitment to women’s causes. She is a powerful, and an inspirational icon in the fashion world as a woman and brand.
